Episode 9 - Duncan Sinclair - Researching The Connection Between Stress and Dementia

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Dr Duncan Sinclair has a PhD in psychiatry and is a lecturer at the University of Tasmania. Duncan is currently researching dementia and how the effects of stress on the human brain in relation to dementia. 

Duncan has also served on the National Health and Medical Research Council and previously worked University of Pennsylvania and Neuroscience Research Australia. This is where he was researching neuro developmental disorders such as schizophrenia and Fragile X syndrome, before moving to Tasmania to begin research in dementia.  

On today's episode of The Neil Coutts Show, Duncan shares his story on how he got into the research field and what motivated him to do it. He talks about how the brain is impacted due to stress and what can be done to counteract it. He explains the different types of dementia and the telltale signs that many people miss. We discuss processes that are required to implement a method discovered from research.
